48 Hours in Kigali

Two days is perfect for a whistle stop tour of Kigali, perhaps before you see some of our hairier cousins in the Volcanoes National Park. The Nest is your perfect starting point, centrally located in Kigali with much within walking distance. We’ve created a Rwandan inspired curated space with local materials and artwork from our Artist-in-Residence.

Day One – Arriving and settling in. There’s no time to waste! After arriving and enjoying your complimentary massage to loosen you up after a long flight you’re ready to go. Dive straight in with a Nyamirambo food tour or Coffee experience at Question Coffee. By sunset you should you’ll find yourself on the terrace at The Nest, watching the light soften over Kimihurura. Check into one of our Adventurer rooms — each with warm wood tones, soft light, and an amazing panoraminc window seat from which you can watch the birds.

Day Two Morning — Explore Kigali’s Creative Pulse, Wake to birds and good coffee. After breakfast, start at the Kigali Genocide Memorial — a sobering, powerful experience that grounds everything else you’ll see. From there, shift gears: Kigali’s creative energy is best discovered in small doses — Inema Arts Center and Ishuti Arts a short ride away.

Day Two Afternoon – Adventure time! Take a trip to Kimironko Market so stock up on some affordable crafts or see colourful produce stacked high. If you’re feeling adventurous why not take a stroll up Mount Kigali where there is horseriding and and amazing view. If you’ve still got the energy head to Sundowners for Nyama Choma (slow roasted goat leg). It’s a winner and a local favourite. If you’re lucky you may end up staying for the DJs which takeover as the night extends.

If there’s maybe time for one last sweet treat pop down to Delizia Gelateria a 10-min walk from The Nest. Get the tree tomato sorbet, trust us, it’s banging.
